Core Facility

The primary focus and expertise of our Core Facility is proteomic researches, especially high-throughput protein analysis as well as protein quantitation. Our facilities and resources, as well as highly qualified personnel in the field of medical proteomics, allow Russia to take an active part in the international Human Proteome Project (HPP) along with the USA, Canada, South Korea, China, and some European nations.

“Human proteome” Core Facility has been organized within the Department of proteomic research of IBMC under the leadership of  Prof. Alexander Archakov in 2003. Since that time, the Core Facility has grown into a leading facility in Russia, which significantly expanded in terms of its capabilities and diversity of equipment and techniques for fundamental biomedical researches, identification of diagnostic markers, and protein candidates for therapeutic treatment. “Human proteome” Core Facility offers service to support your research needs for proteomics, metabolomics, interactomics, bioinformatics, nanobiotechnology. We also have an educational program and provide support for our academic collaborators to design and perform proteomic experiments to obtain high-quality data for scientific publications and grant proposals.

Main services:

  • MALDI-TOF analysis (including MS/MS)
  • High-performance liquid chromatography followed by high resolution and high mass accuracy MS and MS/MS by Q-TOF, ion traps, Orbitrap, and QQQ instrumentations
  • Q-TOF - metabolomics analysis of low-molecular-weight compounds
  • Ultra-high resolution FT-ICR mass-spectrometry
  • Full proteome analysis including enzymatic digestion of sample proteins in gel spots or bands and solutions; HPLC followed by high mass accuracy MS and MS/MS; Mascot (or other search engines) database search and interpretation of data using standard or custom databases.
  • Label-free quantitative protein analysis and targeted SRM quantitation with C13 isotopically labeled peptide standards
  • Quantitative analysis of biomolecular interaction in real-time using SPR biosensor (kinetics, affinity)
  • Characterization of native or recombinant protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions.
